This summer my house was walloped by a hail storm. I emailed Frank (Crew Foreman) and he stopped by and did a free... inspection. Frank found hail damage on the roof and downspouts. Next I contacted my insurance company who also sent an inspector who found damage as well.Everything from start to finish flowed extremely well. Frank and Jake were always quick to respond with questions I had even days after the project was done. This company is extremely professional, they set the day and time the crew will arrive and they will be there. My roof is aprox 4,000 sq foot, the crew started working at 7am and was completely done by 6pm. The crew cleaned up everything and you couldn't even tell they were there after they were done for the day. No nails in the yard and no garbage blowing around the neighborhood. They also take the extra steps to not damage landscaping and shrubs around the house. None of mine were damaged during the project.As a former roofer myself, I know good work compared to spotty work. This was for our rental home in MN and we live in GA. While researching for the roofer, I was very afraid about getting ripped off especially because am not in the state.Jake was referred to us by our realtor and I usually always get multiple quotes for the job before hiring someone but the moment I had my first call with Jake I knew he is my guy for the roof. He came across to me a very straight forward, prompt, honest contractor who knew the roofing game really well and he knew within the first few mins what I am looking for in terms of quality of work and customer service. I still can't forget what he said - "I will sell you the gold quality roof at 45% off prices".I didn't believe him till I saw his quote that he sent after a couple of days after he did a thorough roof inspection of my property. He didn't try to get my business by promising me that we can claim this through insurance like many storm chasing roofers do and I can do this and that. He was straight with me that this won't qualify for an insurance claim and it's best we don't file an insurance claim.His quote was very reasonable and easy to understand. He also offered to clean my gutters, remove the dish on the roof that I am no longer using, fix one of the siding of the home that was rotten at no charge in his quote. I was sold. We right away got on the phone and after he clarified a few of my questions I ordered my roof.He booked me on his first available time slot which was just a few days later. One day before the appointment he pulled the permit from the county and sent me their approval without any of my involvement. Wow!On the day of the appointment, he and his huge experienced crew showed up first thing in the morning and worked very hard the entire day and got everything completed with high quality. They not only fixed extra things Jake promised, but they also cleaned up everything the same day and left.The experience I had with Jake has been by far one of my best experiences in the construction industry which is very rare to find these days.I will recommend him to my friends and family in a heartbeat. Gold Star was so clearly above the rest in terms of candor, value, and integrity that the decision to contract with them for a roofing, facia, soffit and gutter project was a no brainer.Jake contacted me and came out and bid on our project in Bloomington a day after I submitted my request on his website. I was impressed by his frank approach to our meeting. He saw everything I wanted to do, and he gave me his best price later that afternoon without any upsell or even a sales pitch. In the weeks before Install, Jake contacted me to confirm the install date and to confirm some details of the project. He was at my house at the beginning of the roofing project for the delivery of the shingles, and he introduced me to the foreman working the job. Jake checked all the details of my (somewhat) irregular roof with both me and his crew to confirm it was exactly correct, and he made changes on site to more than double the number of vents I had for air circulation in my attic.In the short conversation I had with him on my lawn during the project, it was obvious why he has only 5-star reviews. He is building a strong business by rejecting all of the practices for which he knows contractors get a bad rap. I have already recommended him to four friends and neighbors, and I asked him to bid out a siding job, which I'll likely have done in a few years. In the siding bid, Jake counseled me against the most expensive options that I had requested. The crew who shingled the roof were efficient and clean, completing our 34 square hipped roof in one day. The crew hanging the soffits and facia stayed late into the night to get the job done, and the gutters with leaf protection were installed in fewer than three hours.The work gave our 50 year old house a nice refresh.
